We teach a wide variety of levels supervised by experienced teachers. With programs available for infants as young as 5 months old to graduating teens.
We provide an amazing swimming environment: an indoor heated pool, an 8-lane 50m pool for more advanced levels, suitable depths, immaculate water quality and family friendly change rooms.
All our teachers hold nationally recognised qualifications under either Swimming Australia, or AUSTSWIM.
We give constant feedback to swimmers, as well as provide recognition of each individuals achievements through certificates and rewards.
We offer reasonable prices, with the program run on 9-10 week blocks aligned with the Public school terms (click here for yearly calendar).
We understand that as teachers, not one shoe fits all. We cater to each individual, making sure that each experience feels personal, and everyone gets the attention they need to be the best swimmer they can be.
We have an easily accessible pool that is both safe in depth and water quality. With the indoor pools temperature kept at a warm 32-33 degrees all year around.
It's all smiles and laughter here at Li'l Stingers Swim School
What are the Levels?
At Woree Sports and Aquatics Centre, we have truly embraced the stingray and how flawless it moves through the water. Because of this all our levels are directly related to Stingrays. From the smallest Shortail Ray to the powerful Manta Ray. Each level looks at adding a new skill to each swimmers repertoire, while also building confidence in the water, and prioritising safety. Progressing through the levels is done at the discretion of each individual Learn to Swim teacher, and it is extremely important that the progression isn't rushed. Young swimmers need to learn to enjoy the sport and become more comfortable in the water at their own pace.
Shortail Rays - Babies from 5-9 months of age.
Spotty Rays - Babies from 10-16 months of age.
Blue Rays - Babies from 17-24 months of age.
Mini Rays - Toddlers from 2-3 years of age.
Kindy Stingers - 3-4 years of age. A new level, incorporated to help transition the swimmer into an environment where they will be unaccompanied by a parent in the following level.
Mini Stingers - First stage of the LTS program where the swimmer is unaccompanied by a parent/guardian.
Whip Rays - Begin introduction to Breaststroke, Sculling and the survival stroke.
Speckled Rays - Teaching breathe control and alternating arm and leg movements through the water with each individual stroke. Co-ordination is key!
Electric Rays - The final stage of the learn to swim program. Preparing swimmers for the next step - Squad.
How much does it cost?
We are extremely proud of the affordability of our lessons. Being one of the cheapest Learn to Swim schools in Cairns, we maintain quality - without the increase costing.
A complete 10 week block will only cost $150 per child.
